Come Explore
Take a long, leisurely walk along the seemingly endless stretch of beach at low tide. Feel the pale, smooth sand underneath your feet as you comb the beach for treasure.
The waves of St. Mary’s Bay are a popular surfing destination for locals and visitors alike. Great surfing can be experienced from beginners to experts depending on the weather and season. Bring your surfboard or sign up for surfing lessons from the Good Wave Project.
You can also learn to blokart, an exciting and fun form of land sailing. Sign up for exhilarating adventures from Tidekite ReWind Adventures, where you can also take tide kiting and sand art lessons.
We are located in the Municipality of Clare on the French Acadian Shore, a vibrant community rich in culture and heritage. Home to the largest Acadian community in Nova Scotia, the area has many historic churches, music venues, seafood restaurants, artist studios and hosts the Gran Fondo Baie Sainte-Marie (Atlantic Canada’s largest cycling event) every other year.

Mavillette Beach Lodge, formerly Cape View Motel
Celebrate Acadian culture every August during the Festival Acadien de Clare, the oldest Acadian festival in the world with delicious food, art expositions and traditional activities. The festival ends every August 15th, National Acadian Day, with a large and noisy parade called the Tintamarre.
Take a short scenic drive to Belliveau Cove, where you can book clam digging lessons and dine outdoors every Friday evening on a seafood feast complete with live music. Meet local farmers and producers every Saturday at the Farmers Market and take part in Art Sundays every Sunday from July until September.
Close by in Yarmouth, there are museums, Victorian homes, a picturesque harbour, a farmers market on Saturdays from 9am - 1pm, the beautiful Cape Forchu, and the direct ferry to and from Bar Harbor, Maine. Whale watching, bird watching, and numerous nature trails are also on our doorstep.
